It's time to get back to basics and nothing is as fundamental as radiant
skin.
This lesson was one of the themes Darphin International Makeup Artist
Claudio Riaz and freelance Makeup Artist Samantha von Sperling focused on
when I stopped by Neiman Marcus for a lunch-hour makeover.
"First you need fabulous skin," says Mrs. von Sperling. "Then you only need
enhancement, not a lot of coverage." She wend on to use cleanser, toner,
vitaserum, and purifying complexes that addressed each of the three layers
of the skin, before applying an eyr-catching combination of pink eyeshadow
and Darphin's award-winning mascara in navy.
Meanwhile, Mr. Riaz, who joined Darphin three years ago, was working wonders
on women who wanted to update their look and learn how to apply their makeup
so it stays on longer. His advice? Mix two drops of instant radiance with
foundation to bind it to the skin and add glow.
The Chicago-based Makeup Artist also recommended ammunition for battling
winer paleness -- sunless tanner mixed with moisturizer and a bronzing
powder every other day.
Although Darphin's primary focus is skincare, Mr. Riaz has been heavily
involved in developing a new color line for the Paris-based company. "It's
the first overhaul of color ever for Darphin," says Mr. Riaz. The line is
expected to launch in August and will feature eyeshadows and lipsticks in
eighteen hues with at least seven complementary glosses.
